Íslensku tónlistarverðlaunin 2026: Verðlaunahafar

19 March 2026

The Icelandic Music Awards were presented last night, March 18, in Silfurberg at Harpa. Held through the support of STEF and SFH, the awards recognize the defining contributions to the Icelandic music scene over the past year. With 30 awards presented in total, the evening placed the focus on the vast breadth of the Icelandic musical community.

Laufey Claims Four Awards!

Laufey emerged as the evening's primary winner, taking home four trophies. Among her honours, she was voted the year’s most popular artist in a public vote held in collaboration with RÚV and Rás 2. Additionally, she received awards for Vocalist of the Year (Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, and Electronic), Album of the Year (Pop), and Performer of the Year (Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, and Electronic) categories. Rapper Birnir, the band Of Monsters and Men, jazz musician Tómas Jónsson, and the duo Páll Óskar and Benni Hemm Hemm each received two awards.

Rising Star: Sara Mjöll Magnúsdóttir

The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir with Sara Mjöll Magnúsdóttir.

The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, presented the Rising Star award to Sara Mjöll Magnúsdóttir. Following the release of her debut album, A Place to Bloom, last year, Sara marked the occasion with a release concert at the Reykjavík Jazz Festival in August. She has quickly established herself within the Icelandic jazz scene as an exceptionally talented Hammond organist, bandleader, and composer.

Honourary Award: Todmobile

Eyþór Arnals, Andrea Magnúsdóttir and Þorvaldur Bjarni with their Honourary Award

Among the other highlights of the evening was when Bragi Valdimar Skúlason, songwriter and chairman of FTT, presented the legendary prog-pop band Todmobile with the 2026 Icelandic Music Awards Honorary Award. Todmobile then brought the celebrations to a close with a performance of their songs "Stúlkan" and "Ég heyri raddir."

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners on their well-deserved recognition.

Áfram íslensk tónlist!
